Hello everyone, Here on The Retro Girl I am starting a new series on #GOMO. I hear you say what is GOMO? it means Going Out More Often and that is what we should all being doing this summer despite the weather (Currently raining in Britain) and despite what box set we are currently binge watching.
Saturday 18th June 2016- Camden
Camden is a beautiful and vibrant place, full of different cultures, styles and independent businesses and boutiques. I thought today would be the perfect place to head to on a dreary Saturday.
My first stop was to the Stables Market. Lots of intertwining alley ways full of vintage shops and emporiums selling everything from Moroccan lights to fetish clothing. With incense sticks burning and the low lighting it feels extremely atmospheric.
Walking around the Stables (Very old and converted Stable blocks) is a pleasure and so exciting to see what is on offer. It’s possible to get lost for hours, falling into a world of antique jewellery handmade bags. My fiance and I were captivated. We love shopping for vintage so we were in our element.
In the middle of the market is a statue of the iconic Amy Winehouse. I had to go and see her as I am such a big fan and she was Camden through and through.
If you can pull yourself away from the wonders of the stables (Took 3 hours for me) then its time for lunch. Camden is a melting pot of different cuisines and culinary wonders. Its all street food to be eaten on the move. Rustic but very delicious, the food really reflects the wonders of Camden. There is so much choice, we were actually struggling to make a decision what to eat!
After lunch we decided to head to one more shop in the market, CyberDog. CyberDog is a throbbing mass of style and humanity merged together to create a unique shopping experience.Ask any cool kid from anywhere in the galaxy and they will point you in the direction of the nearest Cyberdog Earth Station – either Camden, Brighton, Manchester or Ibiza! This shop is a must when visiting Camden. My fiance and I always pay a visit, even if its not your style its so vibrant and exciting with the thumping music and the podium dancers it cant be missed. Unfortunately when I was in CyberDog today I was not allowed to take any pictures (Booooooo!) There are however lots of information on their website http://www.cyberdog.net
#GOMO was starting to really motivate us to keep exploring Camden so we headed onto the high street.
The High Street is as vibrant as the market. There are hundreds of coloured buildings, lots and lots of people and street performances. My favourite street performance was the mad hatters tea party. It was the perfect performance for Camden, Mad!
Last stop on our #GOMO mission was for tea and cake (or in my case hot chocolate and red velvet cake) My fiance and I decided to go to the cutest coffee shop Yumchaa. This was the perfect place for us to reflect on our day and decide where #GOMO will take us next….. Watch this space! If you’re feeling inspired by #GOMO Eventbrite has all of the tools to host your own event and even sell tickets online and contribute to the #GOMO mission.
