Hello everyone, Today I’m going to be talking about the power of red lipstick, and my god it holds so much power! My love affair with red lipstick started when I was about 16 years old, this is when I was really involved in the vintage scene and my wardrobe was full of dreamy pieces spanning from the 50’s to the 80’s. I was obsessed with images of punks, Marilyn Monroe, Blondie, Madonna and Dior models. I was drawn to red lipstick, it was vibrant, lady like, brash, shocking and stunning all in one.
Red lipstick has always been my confidence booster, my armour. I have worn it with casual wear, formal wear, my wedding day and even on its own with out any other makeup.
I haven’t always had jet black hair, I am actually blonde naturally but I was called to the dark side at an early age. I feel like my hair is the perfect match for red (as is all hair colours, you rock what ever you have) It gives an air of the gothic mixed with punky accessories. Red is so versatile that I often use it for Halloween as witches have always had the reputation for wearing red lipstick because they are scarlet women, well then just call me a witch!
My favourite makeup look consists of jet black mascara, pale skin, ruby red lips and a strong brow. I will forever gravitate towards this look, this look that goes with everything, my comfort, my love.
One of my favourite red lipsticks is the Maybelline Superstar 24 Matte Ink Lipstick in 25 Heroine, it is so vibrant and pigmented. Definitely kiss proof. (Link below)Maybelline Superstay 24 Matte Ink Lipstick 25 Heroine 5ml
Then there is the classic, the holy grail Ruby Woo by Mac. The reddest red that ever lived, which will always be the red lipstick that all others are measured by. (Link in bio)Mac Ruby Woo
